Summer Is Here!

Report Date: July 3, 2018

Super-hot air temperatures and super warm water temps make it a little more unbearable to fish all day! Using livewell pumps along with recirculated pumps just to try to keep baits more lively helps. Tarpon: there’s still some around the beaches and passes but starting to thin out a bit - threadfins, crabs and greenies work well. MirrOlure purple demon is a great color early in the morning to try to get one on artificial. The trout bite continues to remain pretty strong but the bigger ones are starting to thin out - greenbacks, shrimp and pinfish have been working well. Any suspending twitch baits can produce some good numbers with a twitch-twitch-pause technique. Snook are on their spawning areas - beaches, passes and docks - in full force. Grunts, pinfish, greenies and mullet can produce some monster snook of a lifetime! Sharks are everywhere and blacktips are one of my favorite to hook due there acrobatic air spins. Any piece of cut bait out on a steel leader with a circle hook while you are catching Spanish macs and other species can bring them really quick to your boat.
